catching up... for now

so, i got bit by a cleaning bug (still in the midst of it, actually) and have been deep cleaning and purging stuff from my house....  which means this project has gotten shoved to the backburner a bit.
i'm still taking photos (although not daily), and will hopefully get back on track in the next couple of weeks after tackling the office/junkroom and laundry room.

(most likely L. japonicum 'Variegata')

10: mistaken identities

for several years we have assumed that these seedpods belonged to some Morning Glory vines, the bane of our existence in our garden area:


Honeyvine Milkweed, Ampelamus albidus

however, we apparently have two different vines~ Bindweed/Morning Glory and Milkweed, to which this pod belongs.

also, we thought the insect was a Box Elder Bug, but it is actually the very similarly colored Milkweed Bug.
